Navigator

Before I say anything about Navigator, I have to bring up OpenStreetMap, the free wiki world map. It is an openly licensed map of the world created by volunteers using local knowledge, GPS tracks and donated sources. OpenStreetMap is offered under an open license and is free to use.

Now that everyone is up to speed, I will add that mapFactor’s Navigator is based on the aforementioned OpenStreetMap. This mapFactor-developed and OpenStreetMap-based tool puts turn-by-turn GPS navigation functionality at your disposal.

Download the Navigator Setup Utility and get it up and running on your Windows PC. This will take little of your time and a minimal amount of effort.

Launch the Setup Utility and you will be presented with a dark-themed interface that features four large buttons:
Install application – install Pocket Navigator, install PC Navigator, install Map Explorer, install OCX components.
Install map data – install to your device, install maps to a memory card, manage map downloads.
Product updates – your internet connection will be used to check for updates.
Settings – pick an application language, play with some proxy settings.

PC Navigator has lots to offer: detailed maps for various countries and regions around the world, voice navigation in different languages, route planning, 2D and 3D display modes, search by postcode, find points of interest (POI), audible warnings for speed cameras, odometer, and more.

PC Navigator is available as a Free and as a Paid version.
